On Monday, July 15th at 12:15 am Eastern Time, we will be performing a brief systems upgrade which will make some services unavailable for up to 15 minutes. Streaming for most broadcasters will be unaffected, but read on for specifics. We expect the downtime to be under 5 minutes, with 15 minutes being an upper estimate to restore service in case an unexpected issue arises. No action is required on your part. In our test runs, this maintenance completes in under 1 minute.
Expect Impact
Streaming Network
* Streaming will generally be unaffected for existing streams. Listeners will remain connected and streaming. Specific exceptions include: * Streams using geoblocking will be unable to accept new listeners during the maintenance. * Broadcasters may experience delays in reconnecting to streams during this time, but existing encoder connects will be unaffected.
API, Website, and Control Panel
* The API, Website, and Control Panel will be unavailable during the maintenance. * Other services accessible through the Control Panel, including Remote Encoder Management and Analytics, will be unavailable.
Stream Monitoring
* Stream Monitoring will be unavailable during the maintenance.
Cloud Transcoder
* Transcoders will be operating normally.
Purpose
We are undertaking a database cluster upgrade to improve performance and lay the groundwork for future capabilities. Although we regularly performance maintenance with no impact to services, a quirk in this specific cluster upgrade necessitates a brief period of downtime. We are expecting improved performance for Analytics after the upgrade and will gain new capabilities to optimize further.
